Director of Finance Operations

Purpose : Akron Brass, a subsidiary of IDEX Corporation, has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Finance Operations to join their Finance department.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Front line leader providing direction and feedback which will improve, automate, and streamline current accounting and reporting procedures to maximize the contribution to the overall corporate strategic and business goals.

  • Responsible for the leadership oversight and reporting of several accounting functions including, but not limited to, tracking of project savings, Inventory tracking and reporting, company procurement spending, and budget analysis.

  • Supports and takes and active leadership role in the preparation and coordination of financial reporting requirements to the IDEX Executive Office, including reporting related to special initiatives such as Six Sigma, Global Sourcing, etc.

  • Leads the inventory valuation process including cost studies, physical inventories, as well as variation analysis.

  • Reviews and Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine their effects on costs.

  • Leads the financial oversight of operational productivity metrics, make/buy analytics, and operational cost and Inventory forecasting tools.

  • Finance representative within daily management responsible for reporting out required financial analytics.

  • Direct line to operations leader requirements including but not limited to monthly spending analytics, Inventory analytics, and productivity analysis.

  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting associated with all aspects of operational finance.

  • Responsible for the accuracy of the GL reporting for all Inventory and material accounts.

  • Assist with accounting related projects such as new system or policy roll-out, the annual SOX audit, Rapid Improvement Exercises (RIE), monthly business reviews and goal deployment.

  • Insure that all activities are executed fully in compliance with US GAAP and Corporate reporting policies.

  • Leads and/or participates in special projects and assignments as required.

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of accounting principles, practices, procedures and controls; and demonstrates the ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.

  • Must have strong technical skills combined with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of the business.

  • The ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients, across international regions and cross-functional company teams, is critical to success.

  • Proactively learn finance reporting and analysis tools, systems and processes.

  • Demonstrates the ability to persuade others to achieve excellence and to foster an environment of openness and teamwork in a supportive manner that facilitates his/her ability to achieve results.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, which includes active listening and communication with upper management. Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Accounting or Finance)

  • Minimum of 3-5 years related accounting experience

  • Self-starter, strong desire for getting results and willingness to learn

  • Able to multi-task while being detail-oriented

  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills

  • Must be a team player and willing to step in and help on projects when necessary

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
