SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Supply Chain Director is responsible for managing the global integrated supply chain for the Life Science Optics business lines. The Supply Chain Director leads a team responsible for achieving business goals including customer service, on-time delivery, revenue, earnings, inventory, working capital, material productivity, and supplier performance. This is the most senior Supply Chain position and a critical member of the Life Science Optics Leadership Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Lead and develop an organization of 25+ professionals that includes Buying and Planning for all 5 product lines at the site along with strategic sourcing, warehouse management, and Customer Service.

  • Develop a Supply Chain Strategy for the division in support of the divisional Strategic Plans.

  • Develop and maintain the SIOP (sales, inventory, and planning) process with Product Management and Manufacturing leaders.

  • Develop and utilize MRP and other ERP based systems for managing procurement, planning, and inventory management in line with achieving quality, delivery, and inventory goals.

  • Own the capacity modeling function for all businesses at the site.

  • Ensure continuity of supply to support and achieve on time delivery metrics to our customers.

  • Select suppliers through robust supplier selection process and deploy risk mitigation techniques to ensure effective continuity of supplier even with sole source situations.

  • Develop suppliers to ensure they can meet IH&S business requirements and provide scorecards on a monthly basis to ensure suppliers are meeting the expectations outlined in our Quality Management System.

  • Manage key suppliers to ensure achievement of quality, delivery and cost metrics.

  • Support make vs buy analysis to determine the best long-term approach for LSO.

  • Manage global inventory of raw materials, work in process, sub-assemblies, and finished goods to support on time delivery metrics while meetings working capital goals.

  • Develop a talent development and acquisition strategy to continuously improve the supply chain function.

  • Closely partner with operations leadership to support achievement of Annual Operating Plans.

  • Utilize continuous improvement tools and processes to drive performance improvement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. Degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive global sourcing experience, at least 3 years in leadership role.

  • Global procurement experience.

  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems (JDE preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of and ability to negotiate contracts

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead globally, including influential leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a cooperative, cross-functional, participative (e.g. matrix) environment.

  • Quality tools and/or lean six sigma knowledge expertise is highly desired.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Experience procuring optical glass for filter and lens fabrications as well as metals and tooling to ensure we maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.

  • Outstanding demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good ability to use PC & ERP tools for communication, data extraction, and analysis. JDE knowledge a plus.

  • Must be able to travel to customer/supplier sites throughout the world.

  • This position is a site-based role.
