IDEX Operations Manager in Vancouver, Washington

This position is a dynamic manufacturing leadership position focused on goal attainment through KPIs and Goal Deployment. Responsibilities include overall planning, direction, leadership, control and administration of the value streams in manufacturing and assembly. This position requires collaboration with the supply chain and sales team to balance priorities and meet customer demands in a changing and flexible environment while maintaining compliance. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as lean, six sigma, and theory of constraints will be a key part of successfully reducing waste in production. Key member of cross-functional teams that drive goal deployment through a value stream mapping process. Drives team accountability through Lean Daily Management process and reports out on metrics to top management. Knowledge of ISO and/or other Quality Management systems.


  • Production planning for multiple product lines.

  • Leadership of a highly skilled manufacturing and assembly process.

  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of supervisor’s instruction, strategic objectives, and company’s policy in such a way as to maximize successful output.

  • Lead hourly direct labor employees and hold them accountable for results.

  • Responsible for training, mentoring, and compliance of manufacturing and assembly teams.

  • Ability to communicate and drive for results.

  • Creates and manages work flow (work orders).

  • Responsible for inventory control/management.

  • Utilize team members and continuous improvement tools to reduce waste/costs.

  • Effectively produce written documents such as technical reports or procedures/work instructions when necessary.

  • Effectively produce verbal reports and presentations.

  • Active member of the Quality Improvement Team, action items as assigned by Supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Support the Operations Manager and leads operations teams for Pump Component Manufacturing, Pump Assembly, Supply Chain Planning, Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Quality and Major Facilities Projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).

  • Establishes strong and healthy professional relationships amongst teams.

  • Creates ownership and accountability in key processes and outcomes related to Micropump’s focused priorities.

  • Executes Micropump’s business priorities through team engagement, strategic planning, and continuous improvement utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and practices.


  • Understands the needs of the customer and develops solutions to solve employee and customer issues

  • Communicates effectively across the organization

  • Understands financial performance of the Operation’s team and the Micropump organization

  • Motivates people and teams through influential communication

  • Creates a positive learning environment for members of the operations team

  • Strives to be a Servant Leader

  • Working knowledge of EHS standards

  • Familiar with machining and assembly applications

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to positively influence members of direct and cross-functional teams


  • Bachelor’s degree Operations Management, Engineering or Business or equivalent experience in a manufacturing organization, preferred

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with progressive leadership responsibilities

  • Minimum five years’ experience developing and leading teams

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TOC).

  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.

  • Experience working with ISO 90001 or QMS systems

  • Mechanical assembly skills

  • Experience with fluidic pump components preferred

  • Knowledge of magnetic drive gear pump technology preferred

  • Six Sigma Black Belt and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

  • In-depth knowledge and application of of 80/20 principles

  • 5+ years’ experience developing and leading teams

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Demonstrated computer literacy especially working with Microsoft programs, database, MRP systems (JDE preferred).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.


  • Ability to communicate by speech, writing, computer and through formal and informal presentations.

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work (generally visual inspection of parts for defects using measuring devices.

  • Occasional lifting of at least 25 lbs; ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop
