POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor directly manages a team of production floor employees and the associated value streams of production output. The Supervisor will be responsible for the Safety, Quality, and Output of the products or components in their assigned area. A successful candidate will provide on-the-job training to employees related to work instructions, health, safety, ergonomics, quality systems, lean principles, and inspection procedures. Requires demonstrated success in applying basics of Lean: Single piece flow, setup time reduction, inventory reduction, 5S, etc. The Supervisor will collaborate with Supply Chain, Shipping/ Receiving, Engineering, Quality, and Sales Managers to ensure their team meets its business objectives & sales targets. Must be a champion of Lean Enterprise initiatives, and guiding production team on their roles within the various value-streams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads Daily Management to communicate progress against Safety, Quality, and Delivery targets. Ensuring proper flow, disruptions to flow, (identify on issue board), and adherence to standard work instructions. Analysis of production results and system data to adjust metrics and goals in real time.

  • Improve key metrics: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Continuous Improvement. Data-driven decision making critical to continuous improvement in each specific area.

  • Alignment of cost-reduction activities to goals of business unit, platform and corporation. Achieved and captured through increases in employee efficiency, productivity and reduction of systematic wastes.

  • Ownership of production schedule, including creation of monthly/ weekly/ daily plan & live adjustments due to schedule/ resource constraints.

  • Responsible for development of standard work and tools required for team to achieve prescribed requirements. Identifying and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for all value-add activities, eliminating activities that do not create value, and holding team members accountable for their stake in standard work.

  • Coaching employees, defect data collection, and talking with operators about disruptions and ideas on continuous improvements.

  • Demonstrates clear communication, collaboration and recognition while treating everyone with dignity and respect.

  • Promotes, monitors, and ensures a safe work environment. Performs safety audits and incident investigations; proposes corrective actions to solve issues. Responsible for Safety and 5S in assigned Production value stream areas.

  • Monitors daily production goals and labor utilization to ensure team is correctly staffed. Takes actions to allocate resources, train employees, and closes any internal skill gaps. Eliminates all single-points-of-failure for each value-add activity through cross-training and personnel development matrix.

  • Ensures production documentation is accurate and complete. Development of meaningful/ actionable Quality-related data (first-pass-yield, defect types, period-specific pareto analysis) and feedback loop.

  • Provides coaching, constructive feedback, and progressive discipline (per HR policy) to employees who need to improve

  • Conducts thorough performance reviews that highlights each team member’s contribution, strengths, and areas for improvement

  • Other Duties as assigned and within scope of the position

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision of a team of production floor employees

  • Works with other value stream owners and managers to develop and administer consistent departmental and corporate policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in Business or Engineering with at least three (3) years demonstrated success in supervision or manufacturing technical support OR

  • At least five (5) years demonstrated success in manufacturing supervision.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Lean processes, tools, and one piece flow

  • Demonstrates knowledge of modern manufacturing processes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Minimum 3 years recent supervisory-level experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience with ERP systems. Oracle JDE (preferred)

  • Knowledge of and ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to follow directions or written instructions

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work overtime (days, weekends) as necessary

  • Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $72,100.00 - $108,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
