SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Clamp Machine Operator sets up and operates machine to produce a full range of pre-formed clamps per specifications.

REPORTING TO : Production Supervisor

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine set-up and material requirement.

  • Collects proper tooling, steel, boxes and labels.

  • Inserts and adjusts tooling on machine.

  • Loads and threads steel through machine.

  • Operates machine to determine final adjustment and examines finished work for conformance to specifications.

  • Delivers sample parts to Quality Assurance Department for approval.

  • Performs in-process inspections as detailed in the Quality Control Plan.

  • Adjusts machine as needed to maintain specifications during production process.

  • Folds, tapes, labels, fills and closes boxes.

  • Stamps employee number on package of finished product and stacks on pallet.

  • Requires the operation of two machines as the schedule requires.

  • Maintains paperwork as required.

  • Participates in the continuous improvement process by attending meetings and presenting problems and possible solutions to the appropriate personnel.

  • Operates label maker and print and apply machine.

  • Knowledge of the use of measuring instruments for inspection purposes, i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.

  • Mechanical background and/or aptitude.

  • Basic Math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

  • Ability to read job specifications.

  • Must provide or purchase adequate tools to perform the job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED

Essential Functions:

The physical demands, work environment and mental/visual demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical Demands:

  • Requires use of hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools or controls 30% of the time.

  • 30% - 60% of the time is spent standing or walking.

  • Approximately 30% of the time is spent bending.

  • Ability to listen to sound of machine at all times to help identify operating problems.

  • Lifting requirements range from less than 10 lbs. up to 200 lbs. Manual lifting could reach to company maximum of 50 lbs. Material handling equipment is available for heavy lifting.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving, mechanical parts approximately 60% of the time.

  • Noise exposure is moderate.

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Clear vision and the ability to adjust focus are required to monitor production operation and for safety.

  • Requires constant alertness to machine operation.

  • Peripheral vision is required to monitor production operations and for safety purposes.

  • The estimated compensation for this position is $16.25 - $23.00 per hour

  • This position may be eligible for a business unit bonus of 3% annually
