SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Industrial Electrical Controls Technician supports the factory by utilizing their specific skills as well as some mechanical duties to ensure Operations meets its goals. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the factory. Demonstrate the company’s core values of team, trust and excellence always.

REPORTING TO : VSM – Support Services

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate in the BAND-IT EHS program by adhering to all applicable rules and regulations as per OSHA, NFPA, etc.

  • Demonstrate the IDEX values of Team, Trust, Excellence

  • Performs industrial electrical, controls and automation duties as well as some mechanical duties to install, set up, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial manufacturing equipment.

  • Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to engineering and production personnel to resolve electrical, control system and machine issues.

  • Works to reduce unplanned downtime by working with the engineering team to make necessary improvements in equipment. Uses data and specific procedures to determine root cause and strives to correct the problem versus the symptom. Documents all work in CMMS system.

  • Interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), servo motors and controls.

  • Interface with and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley and other plant PLC’s including connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, programming, diagnosing hardware and software problems.

  • Interface with and troubleshoot electrical equipment at up to 480V, 3 phase power.

  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing change control.

  • Maintain and aid in development of industrial networking systems for manufacturing equipment.

  • Develop and revise work instructions and troubleshooting guides either individually or as part of a team.

  • Works as a self-directed individual with minimum supervision daily to achieve results.

  • Other duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the basic requirements satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma or GED and CCST Level I certification OR 3 years of applicable experience and the ability to pass CCST Level I certification within the first 90 days of employment.

  • Must be proficient at troubleshooting electrical controls, sensors, PLC programs and industrial electrical equipment.

  • Skill in using electrical test and measurement equipment and hand tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, electrical schematics and parts specifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of industrial maintenance experience with CCST Level II certification

Physical Demands:

  • Requires reaching with hands or arms approximately 60% of the time.

  • At least 70% of the time is spent standing or walking.

  • Approximately 20% of the time is spent bending, kneeling, crouching or climbing.

  • Approximately 30% of the time is spent listening for machine malfunctions.

  • Lifting requirements range from less than 5 lbs. up to 65 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near operating equipment approximately 70% of the time.

  • Works in high places (>6’ from floor level) approximately 10% of the time.

  • There is exposure to outdoor weather conditions approximately 10% of the time.

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus are necessary to perform the job functions.

  • Peripheral vision is required for safety purposes.

  • Must be constantly alert to machine operation.

COMPENSATION

  • The estimated compensation for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr DOE

  • This position may be eligible for a business unit bonus annually

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $44,600.00 - $66,800.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
