Operates Product Engineering Lab machinery in fabrication of components for pump prototypes, samples, cutaways, test pumps, fixtures and equipment required for R & D programmed tests.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate machines to include manual and CNC equipment to produce prototype pump components, subsequently may be required to assemble pumps for lab or field tests.
Set up and operate machines to produce pump cutaway models, subsequently will assemble pump and finish (paint, etc.).
Set up and operate machines to modify pump components for test, fixtures, jigs and/or other lab apparatus and equipment.
Maintain display models in condition suitable for show purposes.
Maintain machine tools and equipment clean and in good working order, recommending need for extraordinary maintenance.
Fabricate parts other than above as required.
Assist in the CAM Programming of prototype part testing using 3D modeling.
Write CNC programs for the machining of prototype parts.
Adhere to established safety guidelines and procedures.
Perform other related duties as required, including testing of pumps and prototypes.
Serve as backup for certified testing and engineering work orders as required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2 year Technical degree in Tool and Die or CNC machining, including CNC Programming training.
Three to five years experience in an industrial machining environment with use of CNC technologies and individual responsibility for machine programming, and tool and fixturing setup.
4 year Manufacturing Technology, Technology Management, Advance Manufacturing, or related degree and related experience.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have working knowledge of machine shop machine tools including CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, surface grinder and other small shop tools.
Possess ability to produce work at acceptable quality and quantity within limits of equipment available.
Requires ability to produce parts from blueprints, sketches and/or verbal instruction using shop mathematics and handbook formulae.
Remain up to date and maintain knowledge of manufacturing technology, CNC programming, CAM software, and related information.
Ability to use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
Ability to read blueprints.
Properly align, secure and remove part fixtures, attachments and materials onto machines.
Recognize and properly use inserts and tooling.
Familiar with machine tool controls (e.g. Fanuc).
Able to read common G & M code.
Ability to troubleshoot machine and tooling issues.
Recognize and properly adjust tool and fixture offsets to meet tolerance requirements.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Proficient with Edgecam and Solidworks or similar Cad Cam software to write CNC programs for the machining of prototype parts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and up to 70 pounds on a periodic basis.
Able to work under minimal supervision.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Requires contact with Engineering (P.E. Lab personnel, Engineers, Designers and Design Drafters), Marketing & Communications, and Shop personnel.
