Manages the manufacturing material flow of the assigned functions using MRP and other available tools for planning. Releases work orders for manufactured parts in order to support customer delivery schedules.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans and releases foundry work orders
Creates machine schedules and assists Production Supervisor in setting work order priorities
Uses material shortage report to create, update and maintain weekly priority list
Monitors flow of castings and identify where bottleneck are occurring
Partners with Machine Shop Planner/Schedulers
Attends daily production scheduling meeting
Creates daily status reports for Foundry production
Reschedules and expedites parts as needed
Adjusts item master parameters and verifies transaction accuracy
Ensures accuracy and integrity within the planning system
Assists customer service with expediting and delivery inquiries
Monitors and helps reduce inventory levels in assigned areas
Maintains reports, such as material shortage and Castings on Hold, for assigned areas
Receives packing lists
Acts as backup for other department personnel as required
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent and two years related experience (preferred).
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Good understanding of material flow through the shop
Lean manufacturing mindset
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Good working knowledge of planning BOM’s and an understanding of material planning in this environment
Good working knowledge of JDE and its material planning functions
Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel including but not limited to vlookups, creating and manipulating tables and creating and manipulating graphs
Proficient with other Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, and Outlook.
Must be able to work in manufacturing systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
