IDEX Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician in Albuquerque, New Mexico

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled tasks in maintenance, renovation and repair of buildings, and related facilities and equipment.

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet contract-specific licensure requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains Vacuum and Electro-Mechanical Systems

  • Ability to perform cryogenic and diffusion pump installation, regeneration, and maintenance

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled PM and Repairs

  • Perform electronic, vacuum, control system, and wiring troubleshooting and installation

  • Understands and has ability to make repairs and perform preventative maintenance on a variety of complex machinery used in the fabrication and coating of optics

  • Assist with general facility maintenance electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and various other facilities related operations and manufacturing equipment repairs

  • Occasionally work in a clean room environment following all clean room protocols

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work safely with a variety of electrical currents and amperages

  • Concentrate effectively to ensure personal safety and the safety of others

  • Demonstrate mechanical ability

  • Perform mathematical calculations, especially in electrical/electronic areas

  • Troubleshoot and layout electronic circuits

  • Read blueprints, electrical diagrams, sketches and schematics and work from verbal instructions

  • Effectively use various precision measuring tools and hand tools

  • Collaborate with other employees and departments towards developing and implementing solutions

  • Ability to operate forklift

  • Use computers and mobile devices to maintain records

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Three or more years of related experience in mechanical and vacuum maintenance

  • Two or more years of technical training and/or related experience in maintenance activities

  • Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent of four years electronic or other maintenance experience

  • Desired, not required: Licensed Journeyman Electrician

  • Desired, not required: Various welding or other similar training or experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver’s License to operate company vehicles

  • Willing to work extended hours when necessary

  • Willing to work weekends when necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS

  • Operate fork-lift, company vehicles, hand tools, skill saw, drill, rotary hammer drill, chop saw, grinder, and miscellaneous other hand and power tools

  • Use wrist and forearms to turn and manipulate hand tools

  • Bend and work as necessary to make repairs to production equipment and facilities by lifting, lowering, pushing, and pulling

  • Demonstrate upper body mobility to work above head while standing, sitting, squatting, lying down, kneeling, etc. to make repairs

  • Stand for long periods of time

  • Pass respirator physical fitness evaluation

  • Apply force, push, and pull in order to make repairs

  • Climb ladders to fix equipment on ceiling, roof, or high places

  • Use vision and hearing to assess equipment and machines to ensure proper operation

  • Meet the guidelines of the Motor Vehicle Department with regard to physical and mental requirements for operating a motorized vehicle

  • Work in production areas where chemicals, machinery, and safety equipment are used.

  • Occasionally exposed to weather conditions to complete outside equipment maintenance and repair work.

  • Occasionally work outside, may be subject to weather extremes.

  • May be subject to noise, vibrations, oils, machinery, fumes and odors.

  • Possible exposure to hazards of moving mechanical parts, electrical current, cramped spaces, heights, etc.
