POSITION SUMMARY

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader is responsible for driving a CI culture and mindset across the business. The role will train, coach, and directly apply lean tools and principles, cross-functionally, to drive improvements in cost, production flow efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. The CI Leader will partner with the leadership team and functional leads to identify, communicate, plan, and execute CI initiatives, functional area dashboards, and assist teams with data mining and analysis. The qualified candidate must be passionate about attacking problems with positivity, objective curiosity, and data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a change agent for leading continuous improvement; including development and delivery of training materials and programs.

  • Champion and report on-site productivity savings to meet and exceed business goals (Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan).

  • Lead Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), or kaizens, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), daily management, standard work, 3P/layout, cell design, material flow, TPM, SMED, 5S and visual management.

  • Lead and train RCCM (Root Cause Countermeasure) methodology.

  • Identify, develop, and facilitate a project funnel of business opportunities for improvement; develop and drive related action plans with measurable outcomes.

  • Facilitate goal deployment across site functions and multiple value streams, and maintain a site-wide lean roadmap aimed at meeting site goals, including productivity, quality, delivery, and customer allegiance.

  • Lead site CI steering committee as well as CI idea generation funnel.

  • Celebrate the successes of major CI accomplishments. (Kaizens, lean, 5S, etc.).

  • Identify internal and external best practices and share them across Airtech/IDEX sites.Guide problem-solving and drive process improvement with VES tools including: Daily Management (DM), Problem Solving

  • Value Stream Mapping (actively identify the current state of the process, conduct root cause analysis to solve constraints and document future state)

  • Transactional Process Improvement (TPI)

  • Maintain CI implementation schedules for assigned projects, progress updates as required, and most importantly, provide documentation that demonstrates the direct link between CI implementation and process and Plant Operations improvements.

  • Participate in and lead teams aimed at the resolution of quality issues and concerns.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering on projects addressing staffing, manpower, time studies and capacity analysis for existing and new production lines and work cells to establish standards.

  • Collaborate with functional and process owner to facilitate and develop value stream maps for each process and each value stream family within the facility.

  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree; technical discipline (engineering and/or manufacturing education / background)

  • Formal CI training and certification;

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on lean kaizen, including VSM, daily management, standard work, cell design, material flow, TPM, SMED, 3P/layout, 8D, A3, 5S and visual management

  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience in a machining/assembly environment

  • Lean, Six-Sigma certification and/or experience from a company with a formal lean business system

QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to coach, persuade, influence, and train individuals, groups, and project teams

Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Proven track record leading and coaching week-long kaizen teams with an emphasis on execution.

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in the areas of Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, Lean principles, statistics, and data analysis.

  • Working knowledge of multiple operations, including operations, quality, logistics, finance, sales, customer service, engineering, IT and human resources Experience training in a formal problem-solving methodology with data-driven decision-making getting to the “so what?” of the analysis/data.

  • Ability to lead change with a hands-on approach

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload, and respond to changing business demands

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
