SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Operations formulates and recommends manufacturing and materials, policies and programs which guide the company in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability. These activities are directed and coordinated in such a manner that approved projects are manufactured on schedule, within quality and cost objectives. Part of a cross functional staff, responsible for the development and deployment of policies and strategies to improve operations and increase profits while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Directs the company’s manufacturing and production activities to accomplish

corporate objectives.

 Directs the company’s material and production control activities to accomplish corporate objectives.

 Develops and recommends company manufacturing policy and establishes

manufacturing department operating policy.

 Develops and recommends company material, production control and purchasing policy and establishes materials department operating policy.

 Directs the manufacturing engineering efforts in defining and recommending

manufacturing objectives; develops short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.

 Determines capital and expense requirements to maintain manufacturing objectives and provide return on investment. Prepares annual Capital and Expense Budget appropriation requests for all machinery, equipment and building repair items.

 Directs the manufacturing of all company products at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications as to quality and quantity.

 Supervises installation and maintenance of all equipment used in manufacturing.

 Directs preparation of cost control reports, cost estimates, manpower and facilities

requirements forecasts.

 Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the company in establishing and implementing responsibilities.

 Formulates and installs standard practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs and production figures.

 Directs the maintenance of all machinery, equipment, building and grounds, in

addition to the company vehicle.

 Works with the Human Resources Director to establish and maintain adequate

manufacturing personnel levels.

 Establishes training programs to provide adequate and satisfactorily trained

personnel levels.

 Serves as OSHA and EPA compliance officer to plan, install and maintain adequate and conforming health and safety standards.

 Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Production, Shipping, Scheduling and Purchasing. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Also directs non-supervisory employees.

 Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 5 years’ experience in managing operations.

Physical Demands:

 Requires use of hands and arms at least 60% of the time.

 Majority of the time is spent sitting.

 Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs. Manual lifting could reach the company maximum of 50 lbs.

 Approximately 20% of the time is spent bending and crouching.

Work Environment:

 Climate-controlled office environment.

 Noise exposure is light to moderate. Mental/Visual Demands:

 Close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are necessary to

perform the job functions.

 Peripheral vision is required for safety.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $134,400.00 - $201,600.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
