POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer will be responsible for procurement and planning activities associated with CVI build demands. This person will leverage the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, relationships with internal customers and close working relationships with the manufacturing team.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively communicate with vendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and cost concerns

  • Monitor existing orders to ensure on time delivery

  • Expedite supplier orders as required

  • Ensure material availability for all demand

  • Analyze costs and negotiate prices for goods and services

  • Analyze data to recommend and implement changes

  • Develop and maintain an international supplier base that will meet the company’s needs in terms of quality, price, delivery, and lead time

  • Work with Quality Assurance and Engineering to ensure communication of specification and documentation requirements to suppliers

  • Work with Receiving to troubleshoot receiving and purchase order (PO) issues

  • Monitor status of open purchase orders and ensures timely resolution and communication of potential problems

  • Assist on special projects

  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Intermediate Excel Skills (experience with v-lookup & pivot tables preferred)

  • Excellent organization skills, able to work under pressure and to tight timescales

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, and suppliers

  • Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company

  • Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate

  • Ability to scale volume and complexity as departmental knowledge increases

  • Desire to advance in your career within the organization

  • Ability to work with a team

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to learn quickly

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree or Certificate in a relevant field preferred; or,

  • High School diploma or GED and 2 years of materials planning and/or purchasing related work experience.

  • Prefer 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Prefer 2 years’ experience using computerized material planning and purchasing system.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willing to work weekends when necessary

  • Willing to work extended hours when necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS

  • Perform sedentary work at a workstation

  • Operate computerized equipment and transcribe

  • Perform basic clerical lifting of small quantities of paper

  • Demonstrate upper body mobility to operate computer system

  • Bend as is necessary for sitting, typing (and/or using a computer mouse)

  • Manipulate papers into envelopes; type, operate computer mouse, and grasp

PHYSICAL CLASSIFICATION OF JOB

Sedentary Work: The ability to lift up to ten pounds occasionally and up to five pounds frequently. Although a sedentary job is defined as one that involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT

This position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations; this person must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
